TaylorMade Releases Details on New SIM Max and Max OS Irons

January 10, 2020

Fresh off the heels of their announcement of the new SIM drivers, fairway woods and rescue clubs, this morning TaylorMade released the full details for the last part of the SIM lineup. While they were all but confirmed, with an addition to the USGA Conforming Club list and making an appearance in a promo video posted last week, today we got the full details of the SIM irons which will come in both a Max and Max OS line.

With both lines, the irons will once again feature TaylorMade’s Speed Bridge and Speed Pocket technology.

In addition, there is a new piece of tech in the clubs they are calling the ECHO Damping System.

The press release describes it in more detail:

This uniquely shaped damper design stretches across the entire face (from heel to toe) using multiple contact points for accelerated vibration damping. This high-performance damper design is driven by Vibration Damping Channels that wrap around the entire structure for effortless compression. These channels allow the damper to efficiently compress at impact, giving the material a place to disperse without inhibiting movement in the face.

With the Speed Bridge and ECHO Damping System combined, the claim is that it feels and produces feedback much like a forged iron would. The last bit of tech for these game improvement irons is their Inverted Cone Technology, which increases the sweet spot helps correct the results of a mis-hit. In the SIM irons it is positioned towards the toe, helping create a draw bias for the club since the most common miss among amateur golfers is a fade or a slice.

The difference between the Max and the Max OS is that the latter will feature a taller face, wider sole and stronger lofts — all things that make the OS a slightly more forgiving club.
